Hi there!

Sophia “Sopca” Caparros (they/them) is a Filipino artist from South Jersey who focuses on telling stories about mental health, queerness, and the exploration of identity. Their goal is to normalize the conversation surrounding these topics, in the hope that children and young adults will learn about the role of happiness and curiosity in their own lives.  They have their eyes set on different forms of print media -- graphic novels, children's books, magazines, and newspaper are all areas that Sophia would love to jump into.

They are primarily a digital illustrator, but are still comfortable with the acrylics, colored pencils, and watercolors that they learned the basics of art through. They also enjoy 2D animation and motion graphics, and they make video essays for fun.

Their favorite stories are Good Omens  and The Epic of Gilgamesh. They love studying food, ancient history, mythology, and zoology, and they try to incorporate some combination of them into all of their work. Above all, they are most inspired by their family and friends — specifically their younger cousins, who make it their pre-teen mission to tease Sophia at every turn and make their life all the better for it.

Here is their resume, should you wish to see it :)
